Since 2016, Georgia Tech's Office of the Provost, Institute for Leadership and Social Impact, and Office of Graduate Education and Faculty Development have been organizing a faculty development program specifically for tenured associate and full professors interested in academic leadership positions. Yesterday afternoon, I spent a session with the fifth cohort of colleagues, speaking with them about the work of chairing a complex unit of 90+ employees. Following the alliterative tradition that brought us Pizza with the President and Donuts with the Dean, I picked Chocolate with the Chair as the title for my presentation.
