Had a great time welcoming the participants of the 65th Meeting of the Southeast Conference of the Association for Asian Studies on behalf of Ivan Allen College. The event was expertly hosted by Georgia Tech School of Modern Languages colleagues Paul Foster and Amanda Weiss. The evening keynote speaker, Dr. Minxin Pei (Tom and Margot Pritzker ‘72 Professor of Government and George R. Roberts Fellow at Claremont McKenna College), asked “How US-China Engagement Turned into a New Cold War and What They Should Learn from the Old Cold War to Avoid Disaster.” Couldn't have been more topical, and reminded all of us of the importance of teaching and researching international and intercultural relations.
